ticket option there was another choice,\u00c2\u00a0 &#8220;Engineering\/VIP&#8221;.\u00c2\u00a0 Not only do you get VIP status, you get to do something nerdy and take home hardware so *of course* I go for that upgrade.\u00c2\u00a0 The project turned out to be assembling a Werkstatt while it was still a concept and hanging out with a bunch of other music nerds.<\/p>\n<p>The Werkstat is a basic analog synth, good for learning how synths work with a simple physical interface.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s also not a Eurorack friendly synth, that&#8217;s a format mostly ignored by Moog.\u00c2\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shapeways.com\/product\/PDH9Q74MA\/moog-werkstatt-eurorack-adaptor?optionId=65155423&amp;li=marketplace\">I halfway fixed that problem<\/a> but there are issues with routing sound\/power because those jacks on the rear of the unit, not the face.\u00c2\u00a0 Playing with the Werkstatt did get me interested in analog synths and I continue to sign up for the Engineering ticket.<\/p>\n<p>Moog synths are mostly for people who can play the piano, which I do not.\u00c2\u00a0 (I do study the cello so maybe I just like analog stuff in general?)\u00c2\u00a0 Anything I do with a synth is programming\/sequencing so I don&#8217;t need a keyboard.\u00c2\u00a0 So far there are only two Eurorack-friendly units from Moog, both are 60HP, narrower than most commercial Eurorack cases.\u00c2\u00a0 If you have two or three there are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.moogmusic.com\/products\/mother-ecosystem-3-tier-rack-stand\">external Moog kits<\/a> so no need for a case.\u00c2\u00a0 However, I have five.\u00c2\u00a0 A Mother 32 and four Moogfest experiments:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.synthtopia.com\/content\/2016\/05\/24\/moog-brother-from-another-mother-eurorack-module\/\">Brother From Another Mother<\/a> &#8212; similar but different to the Mother 32.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.synthtopia.com\/content\/2017\/04\/26\/moog-drummer-from-another-mother-sneak-preview\/\">Drummer From Another Mother<\/a> &#8212; prototype of the Moog DFAM released to the public.<\/li>\n<li>Subharmonicom &#8212; I think you need to watch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=GA_JpeAiWhs\">the ~15min video<\/a> to get a feel for how it works.\u00c2\u00a0 The Subharmonicom is based three things I&#8217;d never heard of: the\u00c2\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Trautonium\">Trautonium<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rhythmicon\">Rythmicon<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Schillinger_System\">Schillinger System<\/a> of composing music.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.synthtopia.com\/content\/2019\/04\/29\/moog-spectravox-vocoder-synthesizer-in-depth-demo\/\">Spectravox<\/a> &#8211;
